Will He Stay Or Will He Go Now?

If Kidd goes there will be trouble,
An' if he stays it will be double,
So come on and let us know.
All apologies to The Clash for paraphrasing their classic song, "Should I Stay Or Should I Go," but the lyrics seemed appropriate considering all the trouble this potential Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks trade has gone through for almost a week.
The trade was seemingly a done deal with Kidd and Malik Allen going West for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, two first round picks, and some money. But then, George blocked the deal the way Mark Eaton used to block shots! You know, making you feel all bad deep down inside if you were the guy that just got his shot stuffed.
Well, the Mavs and New Jersey Nets basically waited out George, hoping he'd change his mind. But, guess what? Jerry Stackhouse spoke about being back with the Mavs after getting traded. He had intimated he would possibly get bought out by the Nets, wait the mandatory 30-day period before returning to the Mavs, and all would be right with the world. Well, the NBA didn't like that world because that world then had some shady side-dealing... and the NBA isn't where sheisty happens. Lest you be reminded?
So, Stackhouse being a part of any trade for Kidd was kiboshed. Trade over, right? Wrong.
As of Monday, it appears a revised deal will be a go - reportedly Kidd, Allen, and Antoine Wright will be shipped to the Mavs for Harris, Diop, Ager, Trenton Hassell, the semi-retired Keith Van Horn, two first round draft picks ('08 and '10), and $3 million. The question remains in regards to Van Horn's participation with the Nets. Van Horn has not played since the 2006 NBA Final while with the Mavs, but because he hasn't filed his retirement papers with the league yet and Dallas still own his rights, Van Horn is tradeable.
But does the NBA think so?
As the second verse of the song goes - Always tease tease tease.
