Manu Ginobili Is The Best Off The Bench

San Antonio Spurs shooting guard and sub-extraordinaire Manu Ginobili won the 2007-08 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award on Monday. There is no questioning that Ginobili has the talent to be a starter, but because of his team-first mentality, Manu instead makes the most of his minutes on the court. The formula has worked as Ginobili provides a spark off the bench and revs up the offense another notch. Further proof of the formula working are the three NBA Championship rings Manu has helped in accomplishing for the Spurs.
Ginobili led the Spurs in scoring with a 19.5 PPG average. In just over 31 minutes of play, on top of his aformentioned scoring average, he also averaged 2.1 3PTM, 4.8 RPG, 4.5 APG, 1.5 SPG, 46.0 FG%, and 86.0 FT%. The last NBA Sixth Man of the Year award winner to lead his team in scoring was Rickey Pierce who did it for the 1989-90 Milwaukee Bucks when he averaged 23.0 PPG.
