2008 NBA Playoffs - Day Nineteen - May 7

Thursday May 8, 2008

Here at About.com, we'll be following each day of the 2008 NBA Playoffs - nothing too in-depth with these posts, but a bit of a recap that gives a couple of brief sentences or so, the final results, as well as links to the boxscore.

Sheed tries to defend Shard!

Detroit Pistons 86, Orlando Magic 111 @ Detroit / Box Score

The Magic protected homecourt thanks to a couple of things - Chauncey Billups getting hurt with a strained right hamstring, and taking nothing away from the Magic, an excellent game from Rashard Lewis and very good ones from Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu, and Jameer Nelson. However, Billups may be back for Game Four and if he is, he'll make a difference as they don't call him Mr. Big Shot for nothing! However, the Magic can take comfort in knowing that Game Four stays down in Orlando where they obviously feel most comfortable. Pistons lead series 2-1.

Utah Jazz 110, Los Angeles Lakers 120 @ Los Angeles / Box Score

The Lakers just keep on winning, owning a 6-0 record during the postseason thus far. There is no answer for Kobe Bryant, but when Derek Fisher puts up 22 points and hits four three-pointers, there's no stopping the Lakers, let alone Kobe. The Jazz needs to make sure there former teammate doesn't make a difference moving forward. Lakers lead series 2-0.
