2008 NBA Playoffs - Day Twenty-Five - May 13
Here at About.com, we'll be following each day of the 2008 NBA Playoffs - nothing too in-depth with these posts, but a bit of a recap that gives a couple of brief sentences or so, the final results, as well as links to the boxscore.
Orlando Magic 86, Detroit Pistons 91 @ Detroit / Box Score
Not only did the Pistons play without All-Star and former NBA Finals MVP Chauncey Billups, but the Pistons also only hit 36.1% of their shots from the floor. But they only committed an NBA playoff record three turnovers, which helped the Pistons move on to their sixth straight Eastern Conference Finals appearance. Richard Hamilton scored 31 points for the Pistons and in so doing broke Isiah Thomas' team record for most playoff points. Pistons win series 4-1.
San Antonio Spurs 79, New Orleans Hornets 101 @ New Orleans / Box Score
Going into the locker rooms at halftime, the Spurs were enjoying a three-point lead. Then the third quarter happened. That's when the Hornets outscored the Spurs 28-11 and it was never close after that. David West had a monster game with 38 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks. The series shifts back West to San Antonio where the defending champs need to win in order to stay in the playoffs. Hornets lead series 3-2.
