2008 NBA Playoffs - Day Thirty-Nine - May 28
Here at About.com, we'll be following each day of the 2008 NBA Playoffs - nothing too in-depth with these posts, but a bit of a recap that gives a couple of brief sentences or so, the final results, as well as links to the boxscore.

Eastern Conference Final - Game Five
Detroit Pistons 102, Boston Celtics 106 @ Boston / Box Score
The Celtics held serve and a lot of it had to do with the starting five. The Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen all had excellent games and the two youngsters, Rajon Rondo (13 assists, four steals) and Kendrick Perkins (16 rebounds, two blocks), did all they needed to as role players. It seems a bit of a waste for the Pistons as Chauncey Billups easily had his best game of the series leading the Pistons with 26 points. Richard Hamilton strained his right elbow at the end of the game is touch and go for Game Six in Detroit. Hamilton, the Pistons' all-time leading postseason scorer would sorely be missed and it would make the Pistons sending the game back to Boston for Game Seven very difficult. Celtics lead series 3-2.

Was coach Phil Jackson included in the receiving of the Western Conf. trophy and if not is that unusual?
I didn’t see him… but maybe we can assume Coach Jackson is focused on winning the whole title and this is only a step? Sort of like, he’ll celebrate when they raise the NBA Finals trophy? Just a guess… but what’s crazy to me is seeing Jerry West right up there… like he never left.
