Hakeem Olajuwon raises up on Patrick Ewing

The Fig Cap: Wow that's an old picture... see how NON-sharp it is?

This past Friday, the NBA Hall of Fame welcomed "men-in-the-middle" rivals, Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon. The duo, first started their rivalry during their college years when Ewing played for the Georgetown Hoyas, and Olajuwon was a member of the University of Houston's Phi Slama Jama crew and went by the first name of Akeem, no "H." While Ewing won an NCAA tournament championship in 1984 from Olajuwon and his Houston Cougars teammates, Olajuwon would get his revenge a decade later as his Houston Rockets defeated the New York Knicks to win an NBA championship. Ewing and Olajuwon will always be connected, and their acceptance in the Hall of Fame at the same time solidifies their link.

However, they weren't the only ones receiving the NBA's top honor as others were inducted into the Hall of Fame as well.

Now from being honored for lifetime achievement on the court, to a couple of off the court behavioral situations that bring dishonor to the family of the Association! During the NBA rookie orientation, former University of Kansas teammates, Darrell Arthur (Memphis Grizzlies) and Mario Chalmers (Miami Heat) were kicked out of the program for allegedly having marijuana and women in their hotel room, which is a violation of the no visitors rule. It didn't take long for the mighty fist of David Stern to come down hard on the rookies and while both players have since apologized, they will have a lot to prove about their character moving forward.

And, finally, from breaking the rules to straight up lying, Golden State Warriors guard and newly-made millionaire, Monta Ellis, admitted to lying about the way he injured his ankle recently that will see Ellis unable to play until sometime around the end of the year if all goes well in recovery. Ellis is expected to be suspended and/or fined by the team.

And who says that there isn't much NBA news during the offseason?!?!?!
