The NBA Finals MVP award was first given out in 1969 when Jerry West of the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA championship. There were different NBA Finals MVP award winners during the 1960s and 70s other than Willis Reed who won the award for both of the New York Knicks' NBA titles in 1970 and 1973. Award winners include two of the greatest big men in NBA history - Lew Alcindor (later Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) and Wilt Chamberlain.
