NEW YORK KNICKS
Recap Rewind: As the New York Knicks desperately battle for a chance to steal the eighth Eastern Conference playoff seed from the Orlando Magic, each loss gets increasingly harder to take Although it was never a sure thing, the 3 additional losses in this past week all but eliminate the Knicks from post season contention Despite a brilliant performance from Stephon Marbury, including 28 second half points, the Knicks were unable to hold a lead against the Philadelphia 76ers On Friday night the Knicks fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves... New York did however get some good news this week, as they found out that Eddy Curry can apparently bang out game tying three-pointers on demand. Currys first triple of the season, and second of his career, forced overtime Saturday night versus Milwaukee, and the Knicks pulled away with the win On Monday night the Knicks looked to squeeze by the Eastern Conference leading Detroit Pistons but were unable to stay in front after leading half way through the fourth quarter.
Notable News: The already injury-depleted Knicks saw one more player bite the dust Friday night. This time it was front man Stephon Marbury, sidelined with a sprained right toe David Lee made his return after sitting out 6 games on Friday and played 20 minutes. Lee scored 6 points, but has only played 2 minutes in the 2 games since Eddy Currys three-pointer to force overtime on Saturday was the second of his career. He has yet to miss since his rookie year in 2001.
Fast Forward: Barring a miracle the New York Knicks season is about to go up in flames The Knicks play their next three games on the road against the playoff bound Chicago Bulls, New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors, all of whom are in the midst of jockeying for their postseason positioning The Knicks are currently four games out of the playoffs but will need to leap frog the Indiana Pacers before edging out the currently eighth seeded Orlando Magic The Knicks finish the week at home against New Jersey.
