TORONTO RAPTORS
Recap Rewind: The Raptors started off their week with a loss against the reigning champion Miami Heat. The Heat, who were playing without Dwyane Wade, managed to pull out the win in the final minutes of the game The rest of the week was much kinder to Raptors fans as the Raps squeezed by the Orlando Magic in Orlando and then clinched the Atlantic Division title with a win in Philadelphia The Raptors returned home from the three-game road trip to route the Chicago Bulls before heading to Minnesota for their fourth win in a row.
Notable News: The Toronto Raptors are 32-15 in the year 2007, making them the best Eastern Conference team of the calendar year With the win over the 76ers on Friday the Raptors won the Atlantic Division crown for the first time in franchise history. Needless to say the Raps became the first Canadian team to ever accomplish such a feat In Sundays game against the Chicago Bulls, Morris Peterson was questionably ejected in the second quarter for putting a hard foul on Kirk Hinrich as he went up for the lay up. Replays show that the seemingly harmless foul hardly warranted being called a flagrant, let alone an ejection Anthony Parker dropped in a career best 27 points in the Sunday win.
Fast Forward: The Raptors have a relatively calm week, in comparison to their Atlantic Division rivals at least They take on the Detroit Pistons once in Toronto and then again in Detroit next Tuesday, with a game at home against the New York Knicks in between Having clinched the Atlantic Division the Raptors now look to jostle for home court in the latter rounds of the playoffs The Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers currently sit tied for the second best record in the Eastern Conference, but after last week, the Raptors trail the pair by just one game If the playoffs were to begin today, the Raptors would face the Washington Wizards without Gilbert Arenas.
