Report by Brendan Sullivan
Brendan Sullivan takes a weekly look at the NBA teams in the Atlantic Division - Boston Celtics, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors - and breaks down what happened the week before and what to expect in the week ahead, as well as injuries and trades.
Recap Rewind: The Celtics were the lone stars in Texas last week, sweeping the Spurs, Rockets, and Mavericks on the road within a span of 4 days. If that wasn't impressive enough, they also ended Houston's 22 game winning streak with a blowout, holding T-Mac to just 8 points. In what has amounted to a Texas Triangle hangover, the Celtics dropped their next two to the pesy Hornets and the fast-breaking 76ers.
Notable News: After the Celtics snapped his Rockets' streak, McGrady wasn't even mad, just impressed. Said T-Mac, "I've never seen a defense like that. I mean, if they play defense like that, night in and night out, the NBA is in trouble because that was defense at its finest." Indeed, defense continued to be the Celtics' greatest asset, as their offense ran cold through stretches of every game they played this week, including halves of 33, 40, and 41 points.
Fast Forward: The Celtics continue to play the best of the West this week, when Phoenix and New Orleans come to town. Sunday will be a day of rest, as the 13-57 Miami Heat travel to Boston.
