Detroit Pistons
Recap Rewind: The Pistons continue to hang on to their Eastern Conference best record despite any problems that pop up. They started the week like a team destined for greatness, when Rasheed Wallace picked up a loose ball and made a 60-footer as the buzzer rang. The answered prayer put the game against the Denver Nuggets into overtime where the stunned Nuggets never recovered. Late heroics werent around in their next game as the Pistons dropped a two point loss to the Chicago Bulls. The Pistons then used a 39 point fourth quarter to overtake the New Jersey Nets for a 110-105 win. The Pistons finished the week with a solid home victory over the Miami Heat.
Notable News: With the Cavs stumbling a bit this week, the Pistons seized control of the Central Division and by default the Eastern Conference. A 3.5 game lead with 9 games left puts the Pistons in great shape to land the number one seed for the playoffs The Pistons have done it as a team all year and this week was no different. Chris Webber and Rip Hamilton both missed the Denver and Chicago games with the flu. But thanks to Sheeds 60-footer they were able to split those two tough games. Rip Hamilton also missed the Nets game but the Pistons had plenty left to win the game. With the full roster back on Sunday, the Pistons were able to overcome a slow start with a strong finish to be the Heat.
Fast Forward: The Pistons can finish off their Central Division competition this week with games at the Indiana Pacers, and at home against the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers.
