NBA Teams - Dallas Mavericks Team Profile

From Dennis Velasco, for About.com

Introduction:

The Dallas Mavericks' team name comes from the TV show Maverick, the character played by actor James Garner, who was an original team owner. The team had success relatively early in its history, but then fell into futility during the late 1980s through the 90s. However, they have turned it around recently even making their first NBA Finals in 2006.
