Introduction:

The Golden State Warriors began as the Philadelphia Warriors of the Basketball Association of America. The team was relocated to San Francisco in 1962, but played home games in Oakland as well after the Oakland Coliseum Arena opened. The team name was changed to the Golden State Warriors for the 1971-72 season and that year they played almost all of their home games in Oakland.
