The basic theory is that Shaq needs a sidekick (Kobe, Dwyane Wade) in order to win a title, but with the recent play of the Heat and O'Neal without Wade, assuming Wade doesn't come back this season, how far can the Heat go?
Dan: With the way the Heat is playing this season, they can definitely make it to the Eastern Conference finals. Right now they would have to play Toronto in the first round of the playoffs and then face either Cleveland or New Jersey. They are obviously beatable especially if Shaq starts getting tired but I don't see anyone on Toronto, Cleveland or New Jersey who can stop Shaq when he is at his best. But I don't see the Heat getting through Detroit to in the Eastern Conference Finals if they get to that point.
Dave: If Wade doesnt come back for the playoffs, my guess is no farther than the second round. Shaq still has something in his tank but hes not the Shaq of old. Teams preparing for him (and only him) in a seven game series should be able to overcome his dominance.
Ryan: As hot as they are right now I think they are in a world of trouble after the first round. They should knock Washington out of the playoffs quickly but then having to face Cleveland and then Detroit just to make it to the Finals is too daunting of a task for Shaq Diesel.
