Wes fell in love with the game of basketball while watching the Mavs continually lose around 60 games a year in the 90's. It reminded him of his own illustrious basketball career, which ended after being cut from the 8th grade team. His career highlights include: getting four stitches on his eyebrow while playing on a Nerf Hoop, receiving eight stitches on his chin after slipping in a puddle trying to box out, and breaking a finger while dunking on a nine foot rim.
When it became clear actually playing the game wasn't for him, he started the website Mavs Moneyball - a place where he could be involved with everything Dallas Mavericks from the safety of a sofa. Since beginning to blog about the Mavericks in 2005, Wes has painfully documented the two most memorable postseasons in franchise history and have bit pieces of his writing appear in Dime Magazine, SLAM Online, and ESPN.com. He would trade it all for a consistent jumpshot.
