PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS

Recap Rewind: The Trailblazers made like a cement hang glider this week losing to the Bulls, Grizzlies, and Clippers without managing a single win.

Notable News: Blazers main man Zach Randolph splattered the Grizzlies with 43 points and 17 rebounds then promptly checked in for season-ending ligament surgery in to his hand. Randolph’s understudy, rookie forward Lamarcus Aldridge, scored 20 points on 10-15 shooting against the Bulls. Future Rookie of the Year Brandon Roy welcomed his first child into the world this week and also scored 23 on the Clippers. Seldom-used center Raef LaFrentz also dropped 15 on the Clippers in his first significant action in months.

Fast Forward: No doubt when all is said and done someone will look at the final weeks of Portland’s season and accuse them of tanking. If by “tanking” you mean “getting run over by an incredibly large dump truck” you would be correct. The Blazers face division champion Utah at home on Wednesday before embarking full on into the Texas Triangle, play in Houston on Friday, in Dallas on Saturday, and in San Antonio next Monday.
