SEATTLE SUPERSONICS
Recap Rewind: The Supersonics lived up to the first part of their name this week, beating Minnesota, Denver, and Memphis before falling in a rematch with the Nuggets.
Notable News: How are the Sonics winning without Ray Allen, who is sidelined after foot surgery? Part of the reason is the reemergence of center Nick Collison, who put up 16 points and 13 rebounds against the Nuggets and then 22 and 12 against the Grizzlies. Not to be outdone, Rashard Lewis averaged 29 points per game this week. Offensively-challenged center Johan Petro surprised everybody but his mama by scoring a career high 22 against the Grizzlies. Point guard Luke Ridnour did his part with 12 assists in that game. The conclusion? The Grizzlies defense stinks. To ease their pain point guard Earl Watson scored 28 in the next game against the Nuggets with forward Chris Wilcox added 20.
Fast Forward: The Sonics start the week on the road with a Tuesday night game against the Spurs followed by a Wednesday evening date with the Hornets. Friday sees them back home against the Lakers, Saturday in Utah, and next Monday they welcome the Rockets.
