Report by Dave Deckard and Nick Sclafani
Dave Deckard and Nick Sclafani take a weekly look at the NBA teams in the Northwest Division - Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle SuperSonics, Utah Jazz - and breaks down what happened the week before and what to expect in the week ahead, as well as injuries and trades.
DENVER NUGGETS reported by Nick
Recap Rewind: The Nuggets played four games last week and managed to win four out of five to land in the eighth and final spot in the upcoming playoffs. Denver defeated the Warriors, 114-105 in a critical game that gave the Nuggets a full game advantage down the stretch over the rival Dubs. The Nuggets then lost to the bitter rival Utah Jazz 124-97 before winning their next two games at home to finish the year starting with the Rockets, 111-94 and finishing up with a win against the Grizzlies that was merely a feather in the first 50 win season in 20 years in the Mile High City.
Notable News: Did you hear? AI was Player of the Week in the Western Conference and the Nuggets are going to the Playoffs! Somebody call Melo a cab! After scoring a modest eleven points against the Rockets on Sunday night, Melo was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Fast Forward: The eighth seeded Nuggets will face the Western Conferences number one seeded Lakers in the playoffs. L.A. swept Denver in the regular season 3-0, but many experts think Denver is a very capable adversary for the Lakers in the first round. The series starts on Sunday in L.A.
