Introduction:

The Oklahoma City Thunder came into existence when the Seattle SuperSonics relocated to Oklahoma City during the 2008 offseason. There was much controversy in the team's leaving of Seattle that involved lawsuits, back-and-forth accusations of lying, as well as a frustrated fanbase. In the end, the Thunder get to begin anew with no ties to its former Sonics identity.

Defining Characteristic(s): The Ford Center is owned by the city of Oklahoma City and is named after the Oklahoma Ford Association and Dealerships that agreed on a naming rights deal with the city. After Hurricane Katrina caused havoc in New Orleans and the surrounding area, Oklahoma City reached a deal with the New Orleans Hornets to play their games in the Ford Center during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
