SACRAMENTO KINGS
by Fantasy Junkie of Golden State of Mind
Recap Rewind: The Kings had just a 2 game week against the two teams from Los Angeles. In the first game, with a chance to get back into the playoff race with a win against their direct rival, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Kings didnt get the job done. With a win, they would have sat 2.5 games out, but with a loss they now sat 4.5 out with 11 to play. The 101-105 loss started out poor from the beginning. The Kings were down 19-30 after the first quarter and had to fight their way back the entire time, they just ran out of time. The Lakers were up next and this one wasnt even close. Its like the Kings knew that their season was done after the loss to the Clippers and they fell apart, especially in the 4th as the Lakers outscored them 22-39. With the 103-126 loss, the Kings fell 5.5 games out of the playoffs. Theyre not mathematically done, but itll take a collapse from 3 teams for the Kings to have a chance.
Notable News: The loss to the Clippers ended one long streak. The Clippers hadnt won in Sacramento since 1997 spanning 17 games. Thats an incredible streak for failure and the win sure came at the right time for the Clippers and the wrong time for the Kings Former King Wayman Tisdale had his life saved by a broken leg. After falling down a flight of stairs and breaking his leg, the doctors found a malignant tumor below his knee. They found it in enough time that hes expected to make a full recovery.
Fast Forward: Its a 4 game week with some of the best teams in the league on the schedule. First, Dallas comes to Sac on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday the Kings fly out to Denver for a game being shown on ESPN. Friday is back in Sacramento to face Utah and then they get Houston at home on Sunday. After this week, the Kings could be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and then they can focus on the changes for the offseason.
