The Sacramento Kings started as the Rochester Royals of the National Basketball League. The team moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1957 and then moved again to Kansas City, Missouri in 1970. It was there that they were renamed the Kings to reflect the city's baseball team, the Kansas City Royals. They have been located in Sacramento since 1985.
