Washington Wizards:
The Wizards dropped a 116-111 contest to the Toronto Raptors Sunday, falling out of first place in the division. Gilbert Arenas led the club with 33 points, but only shot 7 of 19 on the game Speaking of Arenas, he celebrated his 25th birthday Friday with a huge party featuring musical performances by Diddy, The Game, and Busta Rhymes... On Wednesday, Arenas hit a game-winning 30 foot jumper at the buzzer to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 108-105. Said Arenas: My swag was phenomenal. When asked about the shot, Bucks guard Charlie Bell, who guarded Arenas on the play, said, They said he has no conscience and he doesn't. He shoots it from anywhere with the same confidence.... While Arenas has dominated the headlines, swingman Caron Butler has quietly had a career year, averaging nearly 21 points and 8 rebounds a game on the season. Said Arenas, One of the reasons I've been able to do what I do is that Caron is playing so well,... The Wizards remain hobbled in the frontcourt, as injured big men Etan Thomas and Darius Songaila remain out of action. Thomas has been injured since spraining his ankle in a December 9th contest against the Houston Rockets, and Songaila suffered a back injury in training camp... The Wizards loss on Sunday was only their second loss when Gilbert Arenas scores more than 30 points. The Wizards are 16-2 in such contests.
