MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
Recap Rewind: Three home games for the Grizzlies last week, and they came out of it with one lonely win. Against the New jersey Nets last Monday, they fell 113-102 despite six players scoring in double figures for the home team. The scoring was less balanced against the Cavaliers on Wednesday, but the result was familiar. Pau Gasol's 23 points and 10 rebounds were the hometown highlight in the 118-96 loss. That lone win came Saturday against the Chicago Bulls, when a Hakim Warrick free throw proved the difference in the 104-103 result. Mike Miller led the Grizz with 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists.
Notable News: The win over Chicago gives Memphis a 17-50 record. That is the worst record in the entire League, but they're only 38 games behind the first-place Mavericks. Every cloud... As you may recall, the Grizzlies came pretty close to sending Pau Gasol to Chicago before the trade deadline. Over the weekend, Pau confessed to the Chi-town press that he's since wondered what might have been had the deal gone through... Hakim Warrick tells us that he doesn't do much better with virtual Grizzlies... Young big Alexander Johnson is back from the D-League, but has yet to see more action for Memphis.
Fast Forward: The Grizzlies will play host to the Hornets on Tuesday and the LA Lakers on Thursday, before taking to the road for a six-game trip. First stops are at Utah on Saturday and Phoenix next Monday.
