Introduction:

The Wizards started as the Chicago Packers in 1961, but changed their team name to the Zephyrs in 1962. At the end of the season, they moved to Baltimore, Maryland and became the Baltimore Bullets. In 1973, the team moved to Landover and became the Capital Bullets, then the Washington Bullets the next season. Due to the violent association, the mascot name was changed to the Wizards in 1995.

Defining Characteristic(s): The Verizon Center is named after telecommunications company, Verizon Communications. The Verizon Center was formerly called the MCI Center, but when Verizon purchased MCI, another telecommunications company, the name was changed effective March 2006. The arena is nicknamed the "Phone Booth" because of its association with telecommunications companies. It is also the home of the WNBA's Washington Mystics, NHL's Washington Capitals, and the NCAA's Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team.
